EMERGING VOICES

CHIKA, CORDAE AND YYSE

One campaign, three distinct artist worlds.

For CHIKA, I created hand-drawn, frame-by-frame journal and scrapbook graphics that expanded into large wall projections throughout the event space.

For Cordae’s AT&T Emerging Voices performance at National Sawdust in Brooklyn, I created fire and explosion animations for his performance of “Super.” The venue’s faceted walls were transformed through projection mapping into a 360-degree visual environment, allowing the motion graphics to extend beyond a traditional stage backdrop and surround both Cordae and the audience. Designed around the fiery visual language of the song, the animations helped reinforce the energy of the performance throughout the space.

For YYSE, I created the opening animation and speaker-reverb motion treatment, then assembled the final sequence around chrome letterforms created by another artist. The work was delivered in 16:9, 9:16 and 1:1 formats for social media.

Role: Motion design, animation, compositing and video editing

Commissioned through Wasserman, with Cordae production through Fivestone.

All of these animations were hand drawn, frame by frame and then used inside a larger animated video
